What Is ?

Antarctica

Ted Scambos, lead scientist at the National Snow and Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colo, says the coldest place on Earth is in Antarctica

The coldest temperature recorded was -93.2C on 31 July 2013 (it was measured in pockets scattered near a high ice ridge between Dome Argus and Dome Fuji, two summits on the East Antarctic Plateau). Although this is the coldest temperature recorded it won't make it into record books because the World Meteorological Organization only recognises temperatures made a couple of metres above the surface.

The coldest temperature above surface ever recorded was also in Antarctica - at the Vostok Research Station. On 21 July in 1983 a temperature of -89.4C was recorded.

that's it!
